My Lifestyle as a Professional Chef

My Lifestyle

How I improve my skills:

My life, like many chefs, is very different. Long hours and a much different sleep schedule from the norm. But I am so passionate about food and the culture around food and I love learning new things about them every day.

New techniques and improving my cooking and baking to make the people I share it with feel joy and memories is something that brings joy to life. I find memories in my food, like glimpses into the past from a small taste, and I want others to experience that as well.

In order to learn and to improve my cooking and baking, I read and I practice. A LOT (much to my girlfriend’s enjoyment). Below are a few of my favorite cookbooks, as well as some tips and tricks I have learned as a professional chef. And maybe a bit more about my life.

Kitchen Tips and Tricks

As a home cook, you will only ever need a few very specific knives. I have a list of the most important ones
as well as a list of knife tricks professionals use to stay safe.

I am very passionate about butter. Salted butter is the most common, but it is dumb to use.
My reason for this is a very simple one. You can add your own salt!

There are a lot of different brands for pots and pans and my recommendation is to not go too cheap.
They won’t last as long and they won’t cook your food properly.

About Me!

I know I am a small fish in a big ocean, but I love to cook, I love to experience food and drinks, and I love to fill my life with experiences. I figured I can share the places I go, the food I eat, and just life as a professional chef in Charleston, South Carolina. Check out my instagram for more here!
