So I got a new cookbook! Which if you know anything about me, is not a big deal because I get new cookbooks pretty frequently. However, I love ALL my books. This one is “All About Cookies: A Milk Bar Baking Book” by Christina Tosi. She is playful, fun, likes to include childlike ingredients (aka cereals and marshmallows). I read through her book and got inspired, so I bought some “fruit ring” cereal and created a new recipe to be this playful delicious cereal cookies.
I picked fruit “rings” because 1. It’s fun! and 2. It was one of the cereals I enjoyed as a kid. The colors are amazing and it really reflects my new year attitude. 2022 was a difficult year with lots of changes. This year I wanted to start off strong with a bright and colorful cookie that really celebrates youth. I want this year to be bright and colorful and bring joy and happiness.

Let’s Make these Fun Fruit Ring Cereal Cookies!
Fun Fruit Ring Cereal Cookies
Equipment
- stand mixer (preferred)
- sheet trays
Ingredients
- 1-3/4 cup All Purpose Baking Flour (250g)
- 10 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 3/4 cup Packed Light Brown Sugar (170g)
- 1/2 cup White Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tbsp Non-fat Milk Powder
- 1-1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
- 2 cups Roughly Crushed Fruit Rings (70g)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare sheet trays with silicone mat.
- In the stand mixer, cream together white sugar, brown sugar, and butter for approximately 5 minutes. The color should lighten.
- While the butter and sugar is working move on to dry ingredients. In a separately bowl, combine flour, milk powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add egg and extract. Continue mixing until it becomes glossy (approximately 3 min)
- Once egg is fully incorporated, turn mixture to low. In three parts, slowly add flour mixture.
- Do not over mix. When the flour is added, turn off mixer.
- Hand crush half of the cereal (35g).
- Fold crushed and uncrushed cereal into the dough mixture.
- Using your hands, make 1-1/2 in balls and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, until golden in color.
I also have been working hard on sharing my recipes with you all and now want to share my life. Remember that chefs, like myself do not have an aesthetic kitchen. Food bloggers, Instagram, and Tiktok make all these kitchens look so neat and clean all the time, but in reality, kitchens are a place to share time and food and use a whole bunch of dishes in the process. My home is a small apartment with a small kitchen, so when I create recipes my kitchen isn’t sparkly and all white. I wanted to share this process with you.
